Travel Guide To Hue, Vietnam

Written by Jose Garces on June 29, 2010 – 3:33 pm -

Hue was unified Vietnam’s capital from 1802 to 1945, during the rule of the emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty. It was not only the political but also the cultural and religious centre. The imperial citadel used to be comparable to Beijing’s Forbidden City, but most of it was destroyed during the bloody fighting which followed the Tet offensive in 1968. It is still an interesting sight, as a increasing number of buildings are being restored.

Getting there

Hue has a very small airport that has maybe one, at most 2 runways. It shouldn’t be surprising considering the small size of the city. It was a long way from town, and we couldn’t see it from the road at all.

Where to go in Hue

Hue Riders: After experiencing the beautiful city of Hue from the back seat of a couple of motorbikes – really fun and exhilarating and, on occasion, terrifying you head on to Hoi An It’s about 150 kilometres from Hue but the trip would take you most of the day as there are few stops planned along the way.

The archipelago was discovered around 1419 by Portuguese explorers lead by Infante Dom Henrique or Henry the Navigator. Camping And Snowmobiling In The Poconos

Written by Owen Jones on June 22, 2010 – 1:03 pm -

Do you like camping out in the winter? Have you ever tried camping in the Pocono Mountains with your tent on your back? Well, one thing is for certain, it is not a family type of holiday! It is definitely an extreme sport for the hardened outdoor type. Whether you go traipsing through the snow on skis langlaufen style, use huskies and a sled or go by snowmobile, it is still an arduous enterprise. Problems from the cold such as frost bite and hypothermia are very real dangers.

Vacations such as these must definitely not be undertaken lightly. The days in the Pocono Mountains during the winter are cold enough, but at night the temperature just plummets. If you have never had such a holiday before, then you are not ready to take one on your own now. You will have to have specialized knowledge either from the military or from other such institution.

Planning and research are the two most important aspects. You will have to be conscious at all times of where the nearest help centres are. Places such as mountain rescue, hospitals, towns, shops, garages and first aid centres. You should also be conscious of the weather conditions and future weather predictions.

Beautiful Cottage Rentals

Written by Owen Jones on June 22, 2010 – 7:15 am -

Most people look forward to going away on holiday and a lot of people like to make intricate plans and bookings. After all you usually have to make allowances for flights and hotels. However, there can also be car, tour and bicycle bookings as well, depending on the category of vacation you want.

As an alternative to a hotel, you might want to think about renting a private cottage. Cottage rentals are a good alternative to a hotel or guest house. In general, cottage holidays are self-catering, so you would have to be prepared to put in a little more work than if you went on an all-inclusive hotel stay. A small cottage on the coast in a secluded location would suit many people, but a vacation cottage on the coast might be better for others.

If you pick the right location, you can have whatever sort of cottage you want. Go to the coast if you like sailing or snorkeling. A coastal resort location would offer more night life probably. If you fancy a quieter fishing holiday with canoing or boating, a quiet lakeside retreat would be more fitting. Then there are mountain huts and several other levels of isolation and nightlife too.
