Have You Heard About These Bruising Myths That Don’t Work?

Written by Jan Doan on May 3, 2010 – 12:16 pm -

Dealing with frequent bruising can lead to feeling stress as well as feeling physically drained. Lots of us are plagued by easy bruising, but when we get a bruise from some light bump, our only thought is how to get rid of it immediately.

Remember that while there may be some great treatments out there that promise to literally get rid of your bruises overnight, there are plenty of old wives’ tales that can leave you with the same old bruises or even worse bruising later on. Make sure that you have good bruising cure information.

Don’t get taken in by the myth of using heat to cure a bruise. Heat should not be applied to your new bruise, because heat causes swelling of the local blood vessels, and, in turn, that leads to increased blood flow to the bruise area. More blood flow to the bruise area is the last thing that you want to encourage. Instead, you should apply a cold pack to the bruise which will enhance blood clotting?

A bruise forms when blood leaks from breaks to the small blood vessels just below the skin. More blood leaking at the blood site will cause the bruise to become darker and more visibly dramatic. Any addition of heat will likely cause a bruise to grow larger.
