Windows Phone 7, What A Wonderful Idea!
Written by William Joe on April 6, 2010 – 4:41 pm -The new Operating System for Mobiles created by Microsoft is arrived, name is Windows Phone 7 and is able to compete with the bigger players like Apple and Google Android.
Just one “big” problem: it is not free! Seems that it will impose a fee upon phone manufacturers who wish to license this new OS.
Talking about the technology behind WP7, let’s begin saying that it supports the new XNA Game Studio 4.0 for developers!
Thanks to this, gaming on Windows Phone 7 will be absolutely magnificent, you just need to see one of the games in production, like The Harvest.
It is an impressive touch-controlled dungeon crawler with destructible environments, high res and beautiful colors.
Anyway, although this and the future great games that we’ll see on Windows Phone 7, all the old games and old applications will not run there. This means starting from the scratch, and facing a huge applications world like Apple’s one (150000 applications) and Android’s 20000 units.
What are the minimum requirements of WP7? CPU ARMv7, shader model 3.0 GPU, 256 MB RAM and 8 GB Flash Memory. WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) will be initially the preferred resolution.
