Children In Phoenix Get Overbite Correction By Local Orthodontist Using Different Appliances
Written by Darryl Kendricks on June 19, 2010 – 10:18 am -Occasionally children need to have braces fitted because they have overbite. A Phoenix Orthodontist will fit braces specifically for children to correct overbite. Many age groups wear braces, but they are more commonly worn by people aged between 7 and 14 years of age.
There are several steps to having braces fitted. The first step is to fit a bracket with dental grade cement. This cement is cured so that it sets under a light where it hardens completely. An arch wire is then threaded through each bracket with elastic that is coloured. This helps to close all open bites, moving the mid-line and pulling the teeth and jaws into position.
When the brace is in place it will require adjusting from time to time. The braces usually require adjusting at different intervals to make sure the teeth move into the right position. Once they have been adjusted then the rubber bands are removed.
When the braces are removed then the retainers might need to be worn so that they help protect from relapse, sometimes the bone and gums need more time to stabilize. If retainers are not required, the time period varies depending on the individual client. Retainers are not fixed and can be taken out of the mouth when required.

Sevierville Orthodontist Keeps Locals Smiling By Straightening Teeth
Written by Javier Luque on May 19, 2010 – 1:52 pm -A Sevierville orthodontist is not your ordinary dentist. These very educated individuals have gone through extensive training and schooling to learn very specific techniques. They concentrate on moving teeth and facial tissues. While a dentist can perform some of this sort of work, you are best off when trusting only an actual orthodontist. If you are trying to improve your smile, it is best to keep your natural teeth, rather than choosing a different option that involves fake teeth.
All orthodontists have to study for several years longer than ordinary dentists. They need to learn very particular techniques for this kind of work. An additional residency of several years is required in order to become an orthodontist.
The difference between a dentist and an orthodontist, besides the additional study you need to become an orthodontist, is that orthodontists concentrate in skillfully moving teeth. They can straighten your teeth, removing ugly gaps and spaces. They can also fix your over bite or your under bite.
While your dentist can help sometimes, you will often be referred to an orthodontist anyways due to their extensive knowledge in the specific field. You should not always rely on your dentist for help with anything involving moving your teeth.

Written by Kenya Saab on May 18, 2010 – 5:50 am -If you are suffering from an overbite, it is a good idea to see what can be done to correct it. There are reasons that it should be fixed, aside from how it looks. A Sevierville orthodontist can help address your overbite.
If your top front teeth come out over your bottom front teeth, this is considered to be an overbite. In most cases, the bottom and top teeth do not touch. In some situations, the bottom incisors cannot be seen. This occurs when the teeth on top or the bone supporting them are overdeveloped, at least as they compare to the jaw below.
One reason people think about correcting their overbite is because they do not like the way it makes their smiles look. Overbites can also affect the way your teeth function, they can cause wearing on the teeth or gums or possibly even cause problems in the joint of your jaw.
Overbites can be corrected through orthodontic care. The method used is going to depend on the severity of the overbite. Methods include straightening, braces or surgery.

Sevierville Orthodontist News: Sevierville, TN Dental Specialist Offers Help For Crooked Teeth
Written by Erik Heidrick on April 23, 2010 – 5:53 pm -Often, when people describe your appearance, they may talk about your beautiful smile. That is less likely to be so if you have crooked teeth. A Sevierville orthodontist has the knowledge and experience to make your smile remarkable. Orthodontic work is often a significant investment in your appearance, so you want to make certain it is done right.
Crooked permanent teeth can be seen almost as soon as the permanent teeth come in. Your child may have inherited a small mouth that crowds the teeth, or sometimes injuries before the permanent teeth are fully developed can cause odd spacing or crooked alignment. Most parents hope to be able to get help from orthodontics to improve their child’s appearance.
Sometimes, the teeth are overly crowded, so that they cannot erupt properly. When this occurs, a tooth may be pulled to allow for better placement. Pulling teeth must be done to maintain the proper bite.
Braces are commonly prescribed for most of these conditions. Braces may be worn for only a few months, or for as long as two to three years. The design of braces is much less visible today, so the wearer feels less conspicuous when wearing them.
