A Visit To Brighton, England
Written by Mark Walters on June 29, 2010 – 7:04 am -Brighton is the Great Britain place to be for shopping, the arts, and of course, anything on the beach. Britain’s famed seaside vacation venue is a great place to visit during any season. The beaches offer activities such as volleyball, surfing, sailing, skateboarding and, of course, sunbathing. Don’t forget to visit The Lanes to experience shopping at its finest in a quaint setting.
Brighton is famous for its pier, a standard feature of any British seaside town. In fact, there are two piers, but one is closed for repairs, having been pummeled for centuries by ocean storms. The remaining pier is known as the Brighton Pier and is crowded with arcades, restaurants, cafes, a roller-coaster and dodgems, as any good English pier should be. During the summer it plays host to a marvelous display of fireworks that are a real treat for seasonal visitors.
A visit to The Royal Pavilion is a must when visiting Brighton. It was built for The Prince Regent, the future King George the IV. The Royal Pavilion was in use by the Royal Family until Victorian times. It reflects an Indian style with other Asian influences, mostly Chinese. No expense was spared during the building of The Pavilion and it exhibits an extravagance and splendor that can only be appreciated by a visit.

T In The Park Festival 2010
Written by Ash Strain on June 12, 2010 – 11:42 am -T In The Park 2010 is an essential date on any music fanatics’ calendar. Held at the airfield in Balado, Kinross-shire, between Fri. the 9th and Sun. 11th of July, this three day festival is being titled by some real musical heavy weights! Fri. sees Muse taking the top slot with their stadium filling brand or rock. Vocalist & guitar strummer Matt Bellamy has been welcomed as one of the best gifts to come out of the United Kingdom for years and his band never displease.
On Saturday it is rapper and self confessed bad boy Eminem who ends the show. The closing party on Sunday is headlined by Leicester rockers, Kasabian, who have just been nominated for three awards by the readers of MOJO magazine. Another highlight, in my humble opinion, would be the chance to see the legendary Madness headlining the Radio One/NME stage. Expect to hear some great ska/pop classics such as ‘It Must Be Love, Our house, Baggy Trouser and The Prince mixed in with the usual Madness tomfoolery.

Must-See Sites For Travel In Great Britain
Written by Elizabeth Aldington on June 12, 2010 – 9:17 am -For someone who has never traveled to Europe, it is a great idea to start with travel in Great Britain. Although the many sites will be unlike anything they have experienced before, people enjoy breaking themselves in by visiting English speaking countries. When planning a trip to Great Britain, be sure to check out all of the amazing attractions it has to offer.
All American children learn about the British tea tax and the resulting tea party of 1773, but many do not realize that tea is still the national drink of Britain. The British people drink 165 million cups of tea each day and no trip would be complete without a tea at a traditional British tearoom. In London, try The Wolsley, which is a converted 1920?s car showroom or Tchai-Ovna in Glasgow for an afternoon of tea and board games.
For travelers who have a love of British literature, no excursion would be complete if it did not include visits to Britain?s many literary landmarks. In the Lake District, visit the home of Beatrix Potter and sit in the garden where she wrote the famous children?s story Peter Rabbit. Many young girls daydream about living in a Jane Austen novel, and a visit to Chawton, Bath or Steventon may be the closest they can get. Of course, it would not be a literary tour of Britain without a stop at Stratford-upon-Avon to see the place where the great William Shakespeare lived and died.

Written by Ash Harper on June 8, 2010 – 1:02 pm -The Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire is steeped in history and has so many places to see it is not possible to list them all here. Here are a few that spring to mind.
The Sculpture Trail : Beginning at Beechenhurst Lodge, in the guts of The Forest, the sculpture train is a wonderful way of exploring the area. With twenty-one sculptures, from some of the best artists from all areas of the world, it’s an interesting way to spend one or two hours. There aren’t many forests in the world, ( I challenge you to find one ), where you will find a fifteen feet high, ten feet wide stained glass window postponed between two trees or a secret hollow with a flotilla of tiny burned boats, setting out across the green mire. The Trail is free to everybody and truly is easily worth a visit.

The Ikon Gallery, Birmingham
Written by Andrew Kelly on May 24, 2010 – 6:19 am -Birmingham is a lively city in the West Midlands, England, it is a really popular city break destination. The city features a huge selection of fantastic tourist attractions including many Grade I Listed churches and stately homes as well as many museums and galleries, including Birmingham’s Ikon Gallery.
The Ikon Gallery is an art gallery which specialises in contemporary art which is housed in the former Oozells Street Board School, Brindleyplace, however it wasn’t always in such surroundings.
The Ikon was founded in nineteen sixty four by 4 students of art and Angus Skene. The 4 artists were; Jesse Bruton, Robert Groves, Sylvani Merilion and David Prentice. Skene had purchased a piece of art by David Prentice and the two of them discussed the numerous problems faced by local artists, including the terrible lack of support. The discussion resulted in the basic concepts for Ikon which was to be a “gallery without walls”.
Angus provided the initial finance for the project, which consisted of mobile exhibitions in such diverse venues as cinemas and post offices in a motorcycle sidecar, the concept being to allow the public more access to art. To reduce costs staffing was by the family, friends and the founding artists who gave their time freely. After a while the Gallery was given a glass walled kiosk in the Bull Ring shopping centre.
