The Zoo Has Something New

Written by Sharon Denise Talbot on May 1, 2010 – 2:15 pm -

Louisiana is called the “Festival State” by many people in the United States. Festivals are a year round occurrence here in Louisiana but spring offers the biggest selection. We always have something to celebrate down here in bayou country so if you like a good party this is where it is happening. The Audubon Zoo plays host to quite a few festivals themselves. Soul Fest was held on the Zoo grounds last weekend. A colorful celebration of African-American culture, New Orleans Creole cuisine and soul food mixed with R&B and hip hop kicked off a round of happenings at NOLA’s own “animal house”, the Audubon Zoo.

New Orleans Audubon Zoo is a place everybody loves to visit. In my child accompanied travels across the country I have been to my fair share of Zoo’s and believe me when I say Audubon Zoo out classes them all. Not only is the Zoo itself beautifully done but it definitely does its part to promote Louisiana, the culture and the whole experience. It has plenty of shaded areas and the animals are in more of a natural habit.

Things To Do In The Wirral

Written by Tom Doerr on March 14, 2010 – 8:51 am -

There is a vast mix of cultural and historical attractions in the Wirral, depending how much time you have you might just be able to fit in most it has to offer, but if your not in a rush, it won’t be going anywhere.

Top of your list should be Birkenhead Priory, a Benedictine Monastery constructed around 1150 this is the oldest building on Merseyside.

A trip to Birkenhead wouldn’t be complete without a trip on the tram, taking the tram from Woodside Visitor Centre to The Old Colonial Pub you can take a guided tour of the heritage centre which is home to a collection of restored local busses, trams and working vehicles from the Wirral.

Leasowe Lighthouse is Britain’s oldest brick built lighthouse and is becoming a focal point of the Wirral coast due to its position between two major rivers; it is in proximity to maritime centre of Liverpool on one side and the natural attractions of the river Dee on the other.

In 1888 William Hesketh Lever had built factories and needed to house his workers so he built Port Sunlight Village. Even though the factories are gone the village is sill home to thousands of residents, Schools, churches and hotels.

One Day To Spend In London

Written by Tom Doerr on March 12, 2010 – 2:06 pm -

One of the world’s largest capitals, London has a lot to offer and touring it in one day might seem absurd but with an early start and a bit of stamina it can be done. As you would expect you won’t be able to see everything London has to offer in 24 hours but you couldn’t do it in 365 days either.

If you want to beat the rush Westminster Abbey should be first on you list, if you can get there before 9.30 you will be able to view it in peace. Most of the countries Kings and Queens have been crowned at The Abbey and it is a focal point of the nation’s royals.

Since the 11th century, the Houses of Parliament have been home to the country’s government and are a truly remarkable landmark that has seen Britain through centuries of colonising, war and prosperity. The building is watched over by ‘Big Ben’, the world’s most famous timepiece, why not set your watch to it.
