Measuring Your Bra Size
Written by Elle Ashley Love on September 7, 2009 – 11:17 am -Knowing your bra size is necessary in more than one aspect. Of course you will want it to fit you nicely, but it can also have many undesired effects. Firstly, an uncomfortable, loose, or too tight bra can cause pain, irritation and blood circulatory problems. Perhaps even more than any other clothing, a bra is meant to be comfortable and well fitted. Also, it affects your posture and your appearance. The way you feel in it eventually shows. Well then, how to measure your bra size? This fast procedure could well make your life less hassle.
First and foremost, you have to know what’s your band size. It can be determined by putting a flexible measuring tape wrapped around your chest and measuring below your bra (preferably that you are still wearing it). Do note that this step affects the way your bra holds you up so it has to be done with best accuracy. Your band size will be obtained by rounding to the next even number (if it’s an odd number). If it is already an even number, you can choose to stick to it or add in 2 inches. Ask the sales person if you are unsure.
The next thing is to measure your cup size. To do so, take measurements on the circumference of the highest point on your chest over your breasts. Following that, subtract the band size from this measurement. Compare the result against a conversion table. In every inch difference, move up by a cup size starting from A. For example if the difference results as 1 inch you need an A cup. For 2 inches you need a B cup and so forth.
Even if you select two bras that match your size, make sure you try them out first in the fitting room. You have to know that sizes vary across different models due to different materials used. However if you did it correctly, the sizes shouldn’t get too far off from your measurements. At the end of the day, you wish to find one that suits you.
Your bra plays a very necessary part in how you will look and feel. Measuring your bra size is a relatively easy step that you only need to do once in a while and that will improve your everyday life for a long time. Once you’re done measuring for your size, it’s time to choose a comfortable bra.
