How Fight Angular Cheilitis
Written by Bartt Iccles on March 13, 2010 – 1:06 pm -Spring is finally here, and now we are once again given the opportunity to enjoy the world outside. Spring is definitely as sunny as the summer, but it still has its very own charm. After months of experiencing the cold of winter, people are understandably very eager to feel the warmth of the sun once more. No longer are we confined to wearing bulky sweaters and jackets. We can finally dress down a bit and stay comfortable and cool.
However, the passing of winter does not mean you can just go back out there with nothing to worry about. Though the weather is certainly sunnier, the precautions you took when it was still winter cannot simply be tossed aside. There are still cold winds during spring; so some of the same safety precautions must still be taken. These problems can appear at any time of the year, so you should not get too complacent when it comes to caring for your health. Researching about and avoiding some problems and diseases you might encounter is a very smart thing to do.
One such problem that seems to make itself available all year round is angular cheilitis. Though angular chelitis may sound foreign to most of you, it is not really that rare. Usually an inflammatory lesion at the sides of your mouth, angular cheilitis is a very common disease. One form of angular cheilitis is chapped lips. Chapped lips usually occur when the person has a vitamin and water deficiency. The mouth (and the body, in general) is dehydrated quickly, which causes the skin to harden and dry up fast that it wounds easily. If you’ve had this, then you know that this is a very irritating problem. It might not be life-threatening or overly serious, but it can really cause discomfort to the person. Just imagine having difficulty eating any kind of food because you have wounds on your lips.
So, what could be considered a good angular cheilitis cure? One of the best ways to prevent and cure it would be to drink lots of fluids everyday. Getting enough sleep is also important, as well as not drinking alcoholic beverages. The main culprit is dehydration, and by staying hydrated at all times, you are lessening your chances of getting angular cheilitis.
The passing of winter should not mean you could rest easy and not stay safe. You still have to be mindful of your lifestyle to avoid any potential sickness. After all, spring is best enjoyed healthy!
