Foods That Can Increase Lifespan

We all want to find the secret to a long and productive life. As a result, many of us have been tricked into buying miracle pills and one-hit-wonders.

Instead, strive to make small, but consistent changes to your daily life that will translate into some massive effects down the road. This is the best way to approach increasing length and quality of life.

The bottom line is that we don’t age overnight, thus expecting to reverse aging from one day to the next is not reasonable.

So here are some foods you can start incorporating into your daily regimen to increase your lifespan:

1. Nuts: Don’t be turned off by their high fat content because fat is necessary to optimize levels of hormones in your body and to help your nervous system repair itself. For the biggest bang for your buck, stick to walnuts since they have high amounts of heart healing omega-3 fats.

2. Un-adulterated cocoa: Your best bet here is to take organic, non-alkalized cocoa. This type of cocoa is the purest form and is loaded with anti oxidants among other compounds that increase the health of your arteries. One more thing: stay away from hot chocolate, it’s loaded with sugar and fat!

3. Fish: Similar to walnuts, fish are loaded with heart healthy omega-3 fats. As an added bonus, they also contain high levels of selenium-a powerful anti oxidant. The problem with fish, however, is that it can also contain other contaminants. Your best option here is to stick with wild salmon, sardines or oysters.

4. Red wine: The biggest benefit from red wine is the effect it has on your arteries-it does a great job at making them more elastic. Contrary to popular belief, red wine doesn’t have enough resveratrol to have any effect on aging. And make sure you don’t have more than one glass, if you do you’ll get a negative result.
