Affiliate Programs – Multiply Profit By Press Release
Written by Brian Lett on April 24, 2010 – 3:57 pm -One of the most highly recommended ways of increasing your sales in any affiliate program or affiliate network, is to do something different, and tell everyone that you did it. Think outside of the box, and do what others are not doing.
Traditional affiliates feel that they only have the marketing tools provided to them by the the owner of the product at their disposal. This is not true. In fact, nearly every affiliate program in the world will allow you to take additional marketing steps, provided that they are ethical. We will discuss one such step.
First, you need to create something of value, such as a free report. This may sound like a daunting task at first, however, once it has been completed, you can use it over and over. The simplest way to write a free report is to write down 5 to 7 tips, and write a couple of sentences related to each tip. If I were an affiliate for a weight loss product, I would write, “7 Ways to Lose 25 Pounds in 6 Months”. Then I would promote the report so that it will lead the reader visit the website of the affiliate program I am promoting via my affiliate link.
Second, you need to get the reader’s e-mail address. You can do this in one of two ways. You can either offer the free report with an auto-responder, in which case the reader will have to enter his or her e-mail address in order to get the report. Or, you can require that the reader first sign up for your newsletter before they are permitted to download the free report. Either way, you have the visitor’s e-mail address, and can follow up with them by not only providing valuable information, but marketing your affiliate products.
Thirdly, you need to get the word out that the free report is there for the taking. You can do this with a press release. I tend to like press releases due to the fact that they are to the point. Your press release only needs to go over the basics such as, “Who, what, when, where, why, and how”. More specifically, you should cover the following:
1. Who is the individual to benefit from purchasing the product.
2) What the information is (ie. the free report).
3. “When” the information will be available.
4. “Where” the reader can find the information.
5) Why (ie. why the report is being make available).
6. How a reader will benefit from reading this report.
This will take some time. But if you are willing to do what other people are not, you will separate yourself from them. In other words, taking the extra steps to direct more visitors to your affiliate products will result in more sales regardless of the affiliate program or affiliate network to which you belong.
